Colourful Spring Wedding in California – Ella & Johnny

Destination Wedding Photographer in California

Ella & Johnny. American Girl weds British Guy under the bluest of skies. What can I say? This one will knock your socks off. The colour and the energy of the day was UNREAL! Not to mention that dreamy Californian light. Prior to the big day there had been unprecedented amounts of rainfall for the area, just inland from Santa Barbara, so the grasses were super green and I felt at home miles from Devon.

Ella & Johnny and their entire families have the most incredible welcoming nature. This whole experience felt like one giant squishy hug. Spectacular from start to finish. Homespun on the family land, with the Californian poppy covered mountains as a stunning backdrop, dripping in colourful flowers, Ella & Johnny made their vows. Tears a plenty.

Favourite frames to spot as you scroll include Ella & her Dad’s first look, the pants one (when you see it you’ll know), the cowboy boots, the shoes dancing on table. To list just a few.

The speeches. Mind Blown. Johnny knocked it out of the park with the most tender, heartfelt speech imaginable.

The afterparty was officially the most high energy party of my entire twenty year photography career. It was wild!

My words do not do justice to these people, this place and their families. The photos go some way to.

“THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. We’re gonna send you a proper thank you, but we wanted to to reach out, no matter how hung over, to say how much it meant to us having you and Debs share yesterday with us. It was unbelievable.

You are everyone’s favourite  photographer BTW. The best energy, the most chilled, just absolutely brilliant. We are blown away at how you managed to be everywhere at once. Incredible talent and ability and just thank you for all your spectacular work.

We hope you had a good time and it was worth the big travel! It was a magical day because of all the little threads that connected it all together. Thank you” – Ella

Thank you both for bringing me and Debs out to you, for trusting us and flying us round the globe to capture your magic. Thank you Debs for being so bloody talented, coming with me and smashing it as always.

In the depths of mid winter I went to visit Rachel Snowdon at her home studio on Dartmoor. We discussed vulnerability and being a creative. Hitting on the imposter syndrome in an era of comparison online, being seen or unseen and pushing through anyway.  We talked about printmaking, art colleges, photography, folklore and history. We […]
