Homespun stylish wet wedding in Devon

Are you looking for wet wedding inspiration? If so this one will warm the cockles of your hearts and make you actually want rain on your wedding day, especially if it breaks at sunset and your golden hour dreams come true.

It all began one very damp July morning with the bride and groom getting ready ten minutes equidistant from the church in two opposite directions. There was such a romance in this. The coming together from two directions to one path ahead. It was a day of softness and genuine gentle grace. I approached the photography with a real intention of gentleness, it felt right and respectful. To pull back and be meditative. There was no need for drama or an overt show, just genuine connection. I attempt to make my methods fit the energy of the couple and this felt like a really good fit.

There were so many touches that were so personal. Artistically brought into being on the day by the bride and her family who put so much thought into the details. My heart soared at how cinematic the church was nestled into the cornfields. The simple colour palette of soft greens and whites, everything assumed an understated ease of beauty, not least the bride. Her dress choice matched her elegance of character. What a silhouette the sleeves added. The wax flowers and lily of the valley added a hint of delicate perfume to the florals. Carefully curated and carefully chosen without any unnecessary excess. Homespun and humble.

The day didn’t rush by as so many do, but gently tumbled away with so many acts of kindness and connection between guests, family and friends reunited. Bare feet in mud, straw in hair, espresso martinis in hand. Meaningful live music then that magical moment when the skies cleared way to the most fleeting of golden sunshine. Thank you to P & J for sharing their day with us. Thank you as always to Debs for second shooting for me, but never a second; an equal. With love, Emma xx
