This one will make your heart skip a beat. Who doesn’t love a simple but glorious mid summer, back garden, Yurt wedding in Devon? Mark & Mia’s wedding really was something special – not only was it completely and utterly beautiful, the environmental impact was so low as EVERYTHING was second hand, borrowed, DIY or home grown. From Mia’s Jenny Packham Dress and shoes to Mark’s second hand suit. Mark’s Mum Eileen made all the food and grew most of it in their vegetable garden. Mia made her own veil and wedding cake all whilst studying for a PHD I must add (I know – there is no end to this girl’s talents!). The bridesmaids made the bouquets from the garden, local meadows and the woodland at the back of Mark’s parents house in the sleepy village of Hollocombe. There was not sniff anything new, even down to Mark & Mia’s wedding rings being made from gold taken from Mia’s mother’s ring.
The highlight for me was Mark’s reading to Mia of ‘A Dedication to my Wife’ by T.S. Elliot. I was bowled over by the beauty of those words. So much so I want to share them with you too.
To whom I owe the leaping delight
That quickens my senses in our wakingtime
And the rhythm that governs the repose of our sleepingtime,
the breathing in unison.
Of lovers whose bodies smell of each other
Who think the same thoughts without need of speech,
And babble the same speech without need of meaning…
No peevish winter wind shall chill
No sullen tropic sun shall wither
The roses in the rose-garden which is ours and ours only
But this dedication is for others to read:
These are private words addressed to you in public.
I cannot tell you how much of a pleasure it was to be a part of but you will see (and feel) how much fun we had from the images. Mark, Mia and Juno the lovely dog, I wish you all the happiness in the world and may your adventures together continue forever more xx
